Why Live in Barrhaven?

Barrhaven has grown into a major community of its own, and there’s a lot more variety here than people sometimes realize.

The older parts of Barrhaven and Longfields have more established streets, mature landscaping, schools and parks, while Chapman Mills puts you close to shopping, restaurants and many of the community’s everyday amenities.

Stonebridge has a different feel again, with larger homes in many pockets, established streets and the golf-course community woven through the neighbourhood.

Then there’s Half Moon Bay, one of Barrhaven’s newer and fastest-growing areas. You’ll find newer construction, newer parks and schools, and a lot of young families, but also the reality that development is still continuing around you in some sections.

One of Barrhaven’s biggest advantages is convenience. Shopping, recreation, schools, restaurants and everyday services are spread throughout the community, so you can handle most of day-to-day life without having to head downtown.

Where you live within Barrhaven can make a real difference to your commute, though. Being closer to Strandherd, Greenbank, Fallowfield or the main transit routes can matter depending on where you work and how you travel.

That’s why I wouldn’t simply tell someone to “look in Barrhaven.” I’d rather figure out whether you prefer an older established neighbourhood, newer construction, proximity to transit, more space, parks and trails, or easy access to shopping — and then narrow down the parts of Barrhaven that actually fit.
