Why Live in Stittsville?

Stittsville has changed a lot over the years, but it still has its own identity and there are some very different pockets depending on what you’re looking for.

Old Stittsville and the area around Stittsville Main Street have more of the original village feel, with older homes, mature trees, local businesses and streets that feel very different from the newer subdivisions farther out.

Granite Ridge is another established pocket with mature landscaping and a more settled residential feel. Nearby areas such as Crossing Bridge also appeal to buyers who prefer established streets and neighbourhoods that have had time to grow in.

Then you have newer communities like Jackson Trails, Fairwinds, Timbermere and West Ridge, along with continued development toward Fernbank. These areas tend to offer newer homes, newer parks and a more modern suburban layout.

One of the things people like about Stittsville is that you can get a little more space and a quieter setting while still being close to Kanata, shopping, recreation and Highway 417.

But where you live within Stittsville matters. Someone looking for the character of Old Stittsville may have a completely different wish list from someone wanting a newer home in Jackson Trails or Fairwinds.

That’s why I wouldn’t simply search everything under “Stittsville.” I’d rather figure out whether you want the older village feel, a mature established neighbourhood or newer construction — and then narrow down the pockets that actually make sense for you.
